October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and one Brooklyn group is talking about the sensitive topic in an interesting way. The New American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) invited hair stylists from all over the borough to an educational seminar on domestic violence. Organizers say customers and hair stylists develop close relationships and can be a first line of defense in having victims come forward. Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes, whose mother was a victim of domestic abuse, spoke at the event.
Hynes stressed that there are tons of resources both in Brooklyn and provided by his office for anyone who falls victim to domestic violence.
