A woman whose brothers were gunned down in Bedford-Stuyvesant joined a City Council member Wednesday to call for an investigation into the case.
Councilor Charles Barron (D-42nd District) questions whether Michael Spann and Jevon Harrell were killed by bullets from someone on the street or a NYPD officer. According to Barron, an undercover officer spotted a man firing at the victims last Wednesday at Reid Avenue and Hancock Street. The officer allegedly discharged his weapon, causing the suspect to flee the scene. However, Barron says the officer also left the scene.
The lawmaker wants to know how many rounds the cop fired, where the bullets landed and why the officer was not reprimanded for firing through his car window and leaving. The NYPD refused to comment on the council member?s accusation that officials know more than they are telling.
