Many Brooklyn residents came out to Sunset Park Sunday for Posadas y Pastorelas, a Mexican Christmas holiday celebration.
Posadas are popular Mexican celebrations that date back to the colonial period. Sunday's celebration marked the journey of Mary and Joseph from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
Organizers of the event say the celebration helps Mexican-Americans to appreciate their culture.
Those celebrating sang special songs, received goody baskets with fruit and candy and broke piñatas.
