A Bay Ridge intermediate school is using art to teach students about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. To honor the 10th anniversary last year, students at I.S. 259, many of whom were too young to remember the events, spoke with survivors and painted a 700-foot mural. The piece took months to complete, but teachers say it was crucial to their understanding the tragedy.
Students are working on a second mural that will honor the troops who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
