Before late singer Whitney Houston signed a major record deal, her first lead vocal in a song was mixed in a Brooklyn recording studio. Houston sent her vocals to a Gowanus studio in 1982. She never recorded there, but engineers edited her voice into the song "Memories," by Material. The studio owner says that although the tune was not one of Houston's biggest hits, he was privileged to have worked with her.
