Dozens of vendors took part in the Black Owned Business Expo in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Sunday.
The event, in celebration of Black History Month, gave businesses an opportunity to show off everything from homemade beauty products to hand-crafted jewelry.
Event organizer Tamar Israel told News 12 that the expo offered a unique opportunity to build their community from within.
For many vendors, a pivotal aspect of the expo was the opportunity to network with other like-minded small business owners.
The expo was not just about growing individual businesses, but for the vendors to learn about and support each other, including putting out products that reflect their heritage.
