Soul Snacks Cookies, a Black-owned cookie shop in Port Morris, had a special visit by Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson on Tuesday.
Ralph Rolle, owner of Soul Snacks Cookies, started from humble beginnings at the Bronx River Houses, where he would make cookies to give to girls he wanted to talk to.
“I was just a shy kid that wanted to meet girls and I didn’t have any swag like my friends, so I would bake cookies and give them… it worked,” said Rolle. “When I first started it was just order to order for friends. And then it got so busy we had to move out of the space we were into a bigger space and that’s how we ended up here.”
Rolle has been in his kitchen on East 134th Street since 2012, and Gibson came by to taste his delicious baked goods - which she loved.
Soul Snacks Cookies has almost 20 different flavors of cookies, and you can even order them online.
