Mason Kraese was a quiet helper.

He was so humble in fact, that his father said it wasn't until after his death that his family learned the extent of his good deeds.

"People came up to us at the wake that we had no idea...he helped a woman and her daughter move from their apartment to another apartment, and I don't even know who this woman was," Phillip Kraese told News 12.

Mason, of Huntington Station, spent years as a firefighter with the Huntington Manor Fire Department.

Mason's first big purchase was a quad, according to his dad.

"He loved that thing and unfortunately that was how he passed," Phillip Kraese said. Mason hit a tree while riding his quad upstate. He died on Aug. 30, 2025.

A blood drive to carry on Mason's legacy of helping others will be held Thursday at the Huntington Manor Fire Department on New York Avenue from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m.

"We loved him so much, we want to keep his name out there," Phillip Kraese said,
