(05/15/06) BROOKLYN - New York City is attempting to crack down on illegal firearms with a lawsuit against 15 out-of-state gun dealers.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NY) says the suit has been levied against dealers who illegally sell guns to individuals. According to Bloomberg, most of the illegal firearms recovered in the city come from outside New York. Gun dealers named in the lawsuit are from Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.
The lawsuit seeks damages and compensation from the named dealerships. In addition, it requires supervision and extra training for the dealers.
