Mayor Michael Bloomberg has vetoed two proposed wage bills previously passed by the City Council.
The so-called living and prevailing wage bills were supposed to guarantee many people an hourly rate above the state's minimum wage, but Bloomberg argues it would damage New York City businesses.
Speaker Christine Quinn says the City Council stands by the bills and plans to quickly override the vetoes.
