Bloomberg unveils upgraded 911 center
Mayor Michael Bloomberg today unveiled a new 911 call center where calls for police, fire and EMS assistance can be taken in a coordinated fashion.
Bloomberg said the technology at the new center updates an antiquated system that will now allow first responders to locate a person calling by cell phone, among other upgrades.
The new 911 center cost the city $680 million.
