The body of a Brooklyn resident shot by a police officer last Thursday has been identified by his domestic partner and mother of his 2-year-old daughter.
Police say 28-year-old Akai Gurley was not armed when a rookie police officer shot and killed him at the Pink Houses in East New York.
Kimberly Ballinger identified Gurley's body today. She was accompanied by members of the National Action Network which said it was a positive identification.
Ballinger had the group speak on her behalf. They say she was overwhelmed, saddened and disheartened by the experience, but she wants to see justice in the case.
