Community members are joining together to expand a Fort Greene bookstore, and the shop's owners are asking neighbors to help out with funding.
The Greenlight Bookstore is doing well enough in its current location that it's looking to build a second spot in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. In order to fund the second store, the owners are asking neighbors to give at least $1,000.
The owners are promising to pay the money back, plus interest, within five years.
During that time, community lenders will get 30 percent off at the store, in addition to bragging rights regarding their involvement.
The deadline to become a community lender is June 1.
