Boricua pride celebrated at Bushwick's 5th annual Puerto Rican Day parade

The fun-filled celebration takes place on the second Sunday of June each year, attracting Brooklyn residents of all ages.

Residents in Bushwick celebrated the neighborhood's fifth annual Puerto Rican Day parade on Sunday.
The energy was high all along Knickerbocker Avenue as thousands came out to celebrate Puerto Rico.
The fun-filled celebration takes place on the second Sunday of June each year, attracting Brooklyn residents of all ages.
Flags lined the street as revelers eagerly watched the parade from the sidewalk as it traveled from Menahan Street to Jefferson Street with a party atmosphere.
There were cheers, dancing and a plenty of music.
Residents said they look forward to the event all year.
With New York City being home to hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans, those at the parade said they are thankful to be able to celebrate their culture together.
Assembly Member Maritza Davila and several local organizations organized the event.
Organizers said the theme this year was "somos el corazon de nuestra comunidad," which means "we are the heart of our community."
