The annual Knickerbocker Avenue Puerto Rican Day Parade was back for its fourth year in Bushwick Sunday with thousands of New Yorkers waving Puerto Rican flags, dancing to the music and with passion in their hearts.

Organizers and revelers said that despite adversity, like hurricanes and earth quakes, their beloved island of Puerto Rico is here to stay.

"We've been through so much, nothing can stop us! Us Puerto Ricans, we got it in us and we are going to continue to fight!" said parade chair person Robin Camacho.

Camacho explained that the celebration was all about representation and unity.

"Whoever you are, I dont care if you're Black, white, Chinese... fly that flag. We are all together!" Camacho cheered.

Born and bred Brooklyn but born to Puerto Rican parents, director of deployment at the state of New York Chaplain Federation Luis Figueroa echoed Camacho's heart-felt sentiment.

"It doesn't matter where you come from, who you are, what color you are or ethnic background. You can always come together," Figueroa said.

Organizers said that they hope to strengthen the relationship between Puerto Rico in Brooklyn and world wide through events like these.
