The borough presidents of the Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan gathered Sunday to address Saturday's fatal shooting of two NYPD officers.
According to authorities, Ismaaiyl Brinsley ambushed two NYPD officers as they sat in their patrol car in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood Saturday afternoon, shooting them at point-blank range in the head. He turned the gun on himself in a nearby subway station. The officers were identified as Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Ruben Diaz, of the Bronx, both adamantly agreed that they are all unified in this time of great loss in the city.
Diaz says that if anyone agrees what the gunman did, they are a great insult to New York. Adams says these sorts of actions cannot and will not be tolerated.
The family of Officer Ramos is expected to speak publicly Sunday night about their loss.
