The Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation is coming under fire for alleged misuse of statistics relating to a women's need for a mammogram to detect breast cancer.
According to Dartmouth researchers, the foundation is overstating the benefits of mammograms and ignoring the risks in a recent advertising campaign.
The research, published in the British Medical Journal, says that mammograms can trigger anxiety as well as expose patients to unnecessary radiation.
