A Brooklyn bride-to-be is distraught after losing her engagement ring, and she's now turning to the public in hopes of saving the day.
Just two weeks before her wedding day, Jo Panke was celebrating her last days as a bachelorette in Manhattan. In the midst of the festivities on the Lower East Side, she lost her engagement ring, which is a family heirloom.
"(It was) my fiance Josh's great-grandmother's engagement ring and it was, according to his family, that was right when engagement rings started to be a thing, so it's original. It's very distinct and beautiful," says Panke.
The Prospect Park South resident says she would only take it off when she washed her hands, but other than that, was overly careful.
Panke checked the businesses she was last at, filed a police report and her sister tweeted out a call for help, which received hundreds of retweets and comments.
Her soon-to-be in-laws are not that upset, saying it's not about the item but rather the meaning behind it
Still, Panke is looking forward to getting a new sentimental piece on her wedding day.
"I'm going to keep looking for it, of course I'm getting another ring which is nice, and I'm going to keep close track of that one," says Panke.
