A 71-year-old Bridgeport man died when his car hit a concrete post Saturday, police say.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. at intersection of Broad and Elm streets.

Police say Robert Knuckles was driving a black Acura Lexus on Board Street and traveling north when he struck a concrete post on the sidewalk at the intersection.

Officers found the man unresponsive and transported him to St. Vincent's Medical Center.

He died a short time later.
