News 12 spoke with stakeholders impacted by a fire that damaged a historic warehouse in Red Hook.
The
fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. The FDNY continued to put out hot spots and said it was under control around 12:20 p.m. on Friday.
The FDNY said some of the artwork was impacted by the firefighting efforts. Fire officials said it will be days before they can remove the artwork.
President of the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition Alicia Degener said on Saturday it's been a tough few days.
“The main thing is that everyone is safe and that we all stick together as a community. The outpouring of support for us has been tremendous. I burst into tears many times over the past 48 hours just with people reaching out to us," Degener said.
She added that about 500 artist's work was still inside the building as of Saturday night.
Raymond Hall, a project manager for parts of the building, said the fire rocked the community.
"It's just been bad. They went through Hurricane Sandy, so to go through this all again...it's been hard," Hall said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been detailed.
The FDNY said the building will have to be deemed safe before they can begin the investigative process.
