As the temperature soared Monday, some homes and businesses in Great Neck lost power temporarily due to a cable failure.
PSEG Long Island told News 12 that while it does prepare, and there have been improvements to the system year after year, during times of high demand, it sometimes experiences cable failures.
Larry Torres, senior director of emergency preparedness and logistics, said they're "ready."
"We work around the clock during this period of extreme heat," he says.
