Many Bronx residents took the road Wednesday, traveling for Thanksgiving.

According to AAA, Nearly 82 million Americans are projected to travel over Thanksgiving, with roughly 73 million people driving to their destination.

News 12 spoke to traveler Jayden Reyes while he was fueling his car before driving to Connecticut to see his family.

He shared how seeing the traffic made him slightly nauseous, but he's determined to make it to his family.

"I'm in New York alone, well not in New York but in the Bronx alone. My family are all out there in Connecticut so for me to spend time with my family I have to make that trip," said Reyes.

However, some Bronx residents like Kayla are choosing to avoid the holiday traffic and stay home this Thanksgiving, noting the high cost of gas and groceries.

"I just came from holiday shopping for the Thanksgiving dinner, and it was extremely different from last year," Kayla shared.

AAA predicts Thanksgiving Day will be one of the lightest travel day this year for the Thanksgiving season.

When it comes to traveling back home from Thanksgiving, AAA suggests returning early Sunday morning or waiting until 8 p.m. to avoid heavy traffic.
