Authorities say William Mojica, 46, was waiting in his car outside 941 Rogers Place at around 4:30 a.m. when he was approached by two armed men. An argument ensued, police say, and Mojica was shot in the neck. The gunmen then hauled the driver out of the livery cab and drove off, leaving him on the sidewalk.
Mojica was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition. His car was later recovered by police on 165th Street.
According to police, at the time of the shooting, Mojica was waiting to switch shifts with another cab driver who lives in the building on Rogers Place.
