Some Bronx parents believe the rerouting of their children?s bus routes has gotten out of control.
Gail Merchant says her 11-year-old had his route changed seven times this year. She says one change occurred as late in the semester as May 31. That rerouting came after a previous change was put into effect 15 days earlier.
Merchant says communication problems with the Department of Pupil Transportation have caused her son to miss the bus or arrive late to school.
Danny?s Bus Company representative Jeff Berger says there will be no more rerouting this year. Crowded buses and lateness have caused the plethora of changes, according to Berger.
The Department of Pupil Transportation is alerting parents that a new wave of changes can be expected for the start of the 2007-2008 school year.
