The Bronx's Williamsbridge Oval Park will soon get a $13.5 million facelift, thanks to a deal to build a water filtration plant in Van Cortlandt Park.The renovations to Williamsbridge Oval Park, at Bainbridge Avenue and E. 208th Street, will happen in three phases. Much of the bidding for the project is expected to occur this fall.
The first phase includes installing a $3 million track and multipurpose field. During the second phase, the Parks Department expects to spend about $6 million to improve playgrounds, basketball courts and the promenade. The third phase consists of a $4.5 million upgrade to the recreation building.
Officials also expect to create a preschool unit within the playground.
Much of the work is expected to be completed sometime in 2009.
