With just hours until Election Day, Bronx Republicans and Democrats spent Monday making their final push to the polls.

In Throggs Neck, the borough’s Republicans took to the streets and knocked on doors.

“It’s like our Christmas Eve here in politics,” said Michael Rendino, chairman of the Bronx Republican Party. “We’re out just knocking doors making sure that if they haven’t voted early yet that they’re going to get out there tomorrow, and to see if there’s anything we can do to help them out to vote.”

Meanwhile in Westchester Square, Democrats were dialing to call voters.

“We’re trying to make sure that every single person knows the amenity of this election and understands what they have to do, which is show up on our very last day – Election Day,” said Councilwoman Amanda Farias, who serves as New York City council majority leader.

News 12 asked both sides about why voters should cast their ballot for their party.

“It’s about working families and doing good by them and making sure that we’re secure their future,” said Farias. “We need change, and one of the things we’re offering here, as a Republican message, is that change,” said Rendino.

Despite different parties and different points of view, both sides agreed that people should get out and vote.

Polls open at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and close at 9 p.m.
