Dozens of family and friends paid their respects this evening at a wake for the seven family members who were killed Sunday on the Bronx River Parkway.
The wake was held at the Parkchester Funeral Home.
At one point, the line of mourners waiting to get inside wrapped around the block. Many of them came from Fordham University, where two of the victims worked. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. attended the wake, as well.
Police say Maria Gonzalez lost control of her SUV, which then flipped over a guardrail and plunged into an unoccupied area of the Bronx Zoo, killing all seven people in the car. New guardrails have since been installed in the area.
A funeral for all of the victims will be held Friday morning at Saint Raymond's Church. The two eldest victims, Gonzalez's parents, will be buried in their native Dominican Republic.
