One beauty salon owner and cancer fighter is receiving recognition for her dedication to the community and her 50 years of service in Tremont.
Sedonia “Bonnie” Croom has been doing hair for men, women and young girls for over five decades, gathering a loyal clientele of customers who would even grow up and bring their own daughters there years later.
Croom was diagnosed with colon cancer in June of last year, forcing her to shut her doors for several months.
Her customers helped keep the business afloat throughout her cancer treatments by raising money through a GoFundMe. Now, she’s advocating for other cancer patients who lost their hair during chemotherapy.
Although Croom is still going through her cancer treatments, she says she couldn’t wait to get back to work in the salon.
