A group of Bronx tenants are calling for better conditions after saying they've been without gas for five months.

The residents of Georgian Court on Grand Concourse joined the North Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition at a rally Saturday to address what they call unsafe conditions.

Tenants say after the building turned off the gas in November, their superintendent gave them hot plates to help them cook. Over 230 claims and 437 problems have been filed with the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development History.

Residents say they've not received any communication from their landlord, Jonathan Winer, in the last five months. They're demanding answers from him and the private equity company.

Residents say they received notices on March 18 saying that Con Edison and Precision Pipeline would turn on new gas pipelines to their stoves, but there are still tenants who have not received the service yet.

News 12 reached out to the building's management for comment.
