The Bronx Zoo celebrated its 125th birthday and is getting ready to introduce a new exhibit for the local staple’s milestone.
Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson made a permanent commemoration to mark the massive anniversary, proclaiming April 18 as Bronx Zoo Day in the borough.
The zoo will unveil a new exhibit this weekend called The Animal Chronicles. It’s an immersive walking trail featuring over a dozen scenes of animal eco-sculptures that take viewers through the zoo’s history, connecting zoo lovers to the wildlife they see here at home.
"There's 13 different habitat scenes and they highlight some of the most significant species and conservation success stories that we've had over the last hundred and 25 years,” said Bronx Zoo director Jim Breheny.
