The City Council is taking a closer look at the Administration for Children's Services (ACS) as a Brooklyn baby tragically died days after suffering brain damage. The Council met Thursday to address how child abuse cases are reported through ACS, submitting a number of proposals on how cases could be reported better by child care workers and doctors.Four-month-old Preston Hertzog suffered brain damage from what officials said were injuries related to Shaken Baby Syndrome. ACS knew of Hertzog's parents from 2000, when his 2-month-old sister, Leah Patterson, died of head injuries. No one was ever charged in that case nor has anyone been charged for Preston's injuries.City Councilman Bill de Blasio (D-BX) said the Council must look at what happened in Preston Hertzog's case and ACS handles cases like it.
