Brooklyn already experienced the temperatures plummeting in the beginning of the week, but now the preparation is for the heavy wind gust on Thursday.
A wind advisory is now in effect from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Wind speed increases the higher your elevation is, so tips for drivers on bridges include holding on tight to your steering wheel and reducing your speed.
The Red Cross and other city agencies are reminding New Yorkers to stock your pantry with sufficient food and water to last two weeks.
High winds may lead to power outages; create a plan with essentials like flashlights, batteries and an alternate heating source.
While the New York City Department of Emergency Management suggests everyone have a go-bag with needed supplies, factor in extra clothes to keep warm as well as medications, power banks and more.
