Business is booming for Flatlands staple Landi's Pork Store as locals prepare for July 4 barbeques. News 12 spoke with butcher John Lindner about tips and tricks to prepare for the big day. Known for their high quality meats, Lindner said steaks, sausages and burgers have been flying off the shelves.
Lindner gave us tips on which cuts of meat are better than others when it comes to grilling.
"The skirt steak is really good. Bone-in ribeyes sell a lot... that's a nice big steak. You can cut that up and serve a lot of people," he said.
He gave us tips on how to best prepare the steak you plan to grill.
"I think if you let it sit out a little bit, that's the best way to go," he said.
Lindner told News 12 that hosting big groups on a budget can be tricky. He suggested to purchase easy to prepare meats, like burgers, hot dogs and sausages. You can also buy these items in bulk. Lindner says they're known for their specialty sausage rings, chicken patties and burgers. He says these options can help you avoid breaking the bank.
"If you want to be a little more cost effective, you have a big crowd, just go with the homemade stuff," said Lindner.
Landi's Pork Store is booked with large orders ahead of tomorrow's holiday. They said community members are welcome to visit the butcher store in person, day of, to buy quality meats for your Fourth of July celebrations. They are open until 2 p.m. on July 4.
