A forum was held Saturday to discuss the borough?s plan to combat the disturbing problem of child abuse in Brooklyn.Panelists included pediatricians, social workers and representatives from the Brooklyn District Attorney?s office. The forum was called in the wake of high-profile fatal child abuse cases in the borough. Experts say teachers and caretakers have a responsibility to report suspicions. The Brooklyn D.A.?s office and child abuse prevention advocates have also created a program called Brooklyn C.P.R., where the community and prosecutors work together to prevent child abuse. The Brooklyn District Attorney?s office is calling their presentation ?a call to action.? They encourage Brooklyn residents to report child abuse at its first signs, before it's too late.
