Several Brooklyn residents will be participating in the Annual Bike 4 Friendship cross-country bicycle trip, which kicks off in San Diego on July 6.
Three of the 30 riders taking part in the event are from Brooklyn, and they are training now for several hours each day. The 3,100-mile trip across the continent will benefit Friendship Circle International, an organization that gives children with special needs the gift of friendship.
The cyclists will average 85 miles a day through wind, heat and high altitude for six weeks, but they say the journey is worth it.
