Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes is under fire after refusing to release the names of people arrested or convicted of sex crimes in Brooklyn's Orthodox Jewish communities.According to Hynes, releasing the names in what he describes as small, insular communities could lead to identifying victims. Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-48th District) disagrees, insisting the public has a right to information on sex offenders. Hynes set up a hot line for sex crime victims in Jewish communities back in 2009. He says the success of the program relies on anonymity and fears the victims will stop coming forward without it.
