The Brooklyn DA's Office, NYPD and the city's Parks Department hosted an
anti-gun violence picnic in Highland Park Friday.
The community gathered together for family-friendly fun while participants
highlighted efforts to end gun violence in the city.
"Today was a big blessing to bring so many community members out to say we
want safety, and we're going to figure out how to get there together as a
community.
We had a lot of messages from people who have been impacted by gun
violence, talking about how gun violence shaped their lives, how they're
working to make sure that no other families have to suffer," said Brooklyn
District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
The event also included live music.
