Wounded Israeli soldiers joined Holocaust survivors living in Brooklyn to share their stories of survival in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The annual event was held at the Brooklyn Flatbush Jewish Center and was organized by "Self Help Community Services," a nonprofit founded in 1936 to help Jews fleeing Nazi Germany maintain their independence as they built new lives in the United States.

Holocaust Remembrance Day begins tonight.

Organizers say the event brings Holocaust survivors and their families together to share stories through readings and music.  

Survivors say Holocaust Remembrance Day is a time of reflection.
