A former high school janitor accused of taping girls has avoided jail time by agreeing to a plea bargain in Brooklyn Supreme Court.Michael Conte, a convicted sex offender, pleaded guilty Tuesday to unlawful surveillance after admitting he installed video cameras in the girls? bathrooms and locker rooms of both Brooklyn Tech and George Westinghouse high schools. When police searched his Staten Island home they found more than 1,000 video tapes and surveillance equipment.Conte was sentenced to five years probation and 500 hours of community service. The plea deal also restricts him from working at city schools and requires him to see a psychiatrist for the next five years. Conte will also be forced to register as a level-one sex offender.
