A Brooklyn man was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend in 2016.
Keon Richmond, 37, fatally shot 25-year-old Alastasia Bryan in Canarsie while she sat in her car before going to work.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez says Richmond's actions robbed Bryan of a promising life.
Bryan was a rookie corrections officer.
Richmond was convicted in October of second-degree murder and weapons charges.
