The Brooklyn Mirage rescheduled a concert Friday night and relocated a concert for Saturday because it failed to meet safety standards, according to city officials.
The venue took to Instagram to let concertgoers know Friday night's concert will be rescheduled to Aug. 2 and Saturday's concert will be relocated.
A spokesperson for the City Hall sent a statement that says in part:
"The safety of everyone in our city is always our top priority, which is why we cannot endanger New Yorkers by allowing them to enter a venue without a permit."
News 12 spoke with food vendors, including Fares Awtwa, of Habibi Halal Foods, who says the business relies on the Mirage.
"Last week, we bought our stuff for $2,000 and they just canceled it, and we just threw it out. I hope that's not gonna happen this week. If they cancel it, that means we're not gonna sell the stuff," said Awtwa.
A City Hall spokesperson tells News 12 concerts won't be able to happen until they have deemed the site safe and properly permitted.
