Brooklyn mother, children ‘traumatized’ after attempted kidnapping in Brooklyn

A Brooklyn mother is asking for help in catching the person who nearly kidnapped her 15-year-old daughter Tuesday afternoon.
It wasn’t uncommon for Artrivia Gowins's children to go to Prospect Plaza Playground to play, but now she says they’re terrified to come back.
She says her 15-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son were playing basketball and that most of the other children had left.
Suddenly, she says a man who was possibly in his late 20s came up behind the teen girl and grabbed her. At first, she says the younger brother asked if she knew the man and when she said no, he screamed for help.
Gowins says she is grateful that a passerby called out to them, asking if everything was OK.
The teenage girl managed to break free and she and her brother took off running for help at the 73rd Precinct.
Now, she says her children are staying with relatives out of town because the incident was so traumatizing.
Gowins says she wants to alert other parents in case the suspect tries it again. He walked off down Sterling Street.
She says police are tracking down surveillance video.
