Brooklyn residents celebrated Black female empowerment at the inaugural Brooklyn Natural Hair Fest in Bed-Stuy.
Angela Pennyfeather, the founder of the event told News 12 she hopes for it to continue for many years to come.
“Especially in Brooklyn, we are paying homage to the culture," she said. "…We want women to embrace their natural hair – whether they’re going to work, going out or even to the corner store.”
