? Parents met Thursday at an education forum to voice concerns over a principal being removed, testing policies and a new high school for Sunset Park.
Parents say they are worried about their children?s educations after a Carroll Gardens principal was reassigned for allegedly showing students statewide exams in advance. Many parents defend Public School 58 Principal Joyce Plush-Saly, saying she turned around the fledgling school. They want the Board of Education to disclose whether the principal did something wrong, or put her back on the job.
Residents also want a new high school built in Sunset Park. The city says it has delivered on its promise to acquire the land for the school, but the state has been slow to deliver the funding. A judge recently ruled the state has not been properly funding city schools according to the state constitution.
