Today, people in Brooklyn and around the world are marking the 1-year anniversary of the Hamas attacks in Israel.
In the attacks, approximately 1,200 people were killed and 250 others were kidnapped. The day is considered the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust.
Security measures around New York City are getting amped up in preparation for the planned protests and vigils as tensions continue to rise in the United States and in the Middle East.
