Some of the 12,000 residents who live at Starrett City, whose official name is now Spring Creek Towers, rallied to protest the sale. They say they are afraid the affordable housing will be taken away and they will lose their homes.McLaughlin said the agreement would be signed and the sale money deposited on Thursday. He says there were seven bids for the property ranging from $600 million to $1.3 billion.
