People of all ages packed the Brooklyn Public Library's central branch at Grand Army Plaza to ring in the Chinese New Year with song and dance.
Musicians and performers treated children and their parents to a spectacle Sunday and even taught people how to speak a little Mandarin. Organizers believe 2007, the Year of the Golden Pig, will usher in prosperity and growth.
One parent who usually enjoys going to Chinatown to see firecrackers says the library was a safe and suitable alternative for her young daughter to enjoy the holiday.
