A young Brooklyn artist is getting national attention on NBC's "The Voice."
Brooklyn singer Bryan Bautista is trying to break into the music business on the singing competition show, and is being coached by Christina Aguilera.
Bautista is a Brooklyn Tech High School graduate and says his teachers and friends encouraged him to sing at the school's first talent show.
His teacher Jackie Manduley remembers his first audition for school. She recalls a shy, young man looking at the floor, but says he was always talented.
"Everybody else always knew how great he was and he might have been one of the later ones to realize he had that ability," says Manduley
Bautista says his high school performances helped him build the courage to sing the National Anthem in a sold-out Barclays arena where he worked as an usher.
"I would love to one do a sold-out concert here at Brooklyn Tech," says Bautista. "I'd love to headline Barclays Center one day, just because it would like make everything come full circle."
