Thousands of people gathered Friday to cross the Brooklyn Bridge in honor of Good Friday and the death of Jesus Christ.
The journey started with somber music and prayers at St. James Cathedral Basilica downtown. From there, thousands followed in the way of the cross, silently walking over the bridge toward City Hall.
Catholics and Protestants alike celebrated the holy day. One woman said that it doesn?t matter what faith you are ? everyone should pray for each other and for the world.
Crown Heights resident Marie Pyrol walked with her granddaughter, hoping to pass on her strong faith. ?Even with pain, I will go to church,? Pyrol said. ?I will cross the bridge every year until I die.?
