A violent crash early this morning left five people hurt in Brownsville.
Officials say it happened around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Chester Street and Sutter Avenue.
They say the driver of a Chevy Impala was going the wrong way down Chester Street, got to the intersection of Sutter Avenue and smashed into a Nissan Altima.
Police say the people in the Impala, which flipped over, jumped out of the car and took off.
All five people inside the Altima had to be taken to the hospital where again one of them, a 27-year-old man, is in critical condition.
Police are still searching for whoever was in the Impala.
News 12 spoke to Bishop Willie Billips, of the NYPD Clergy Task Force, who spent most of the night in the hospital with the families.
"The main thing the family wanted was prayer and I had one family member that really stuck out strong, she said 'can I have a hug from the bishop,' so we prayed with the family. It's been pretty rough," says Bishop Billips.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
